Can I try before I pay anything?
You can open an account and create a shop right now for 14 days before you have to pay anything. If you would like to continue service after fourteen days (and we’re sure you will), then all you have to do is purchase a Shop Plan in the OwnYourShop.com Manager. If you have any questions, please contact us and our friendly staff will be happy to help you.
 
Do I have to commit to a any term contract?
OwnYourShop.com bills customer quarterly (3 months) or annually (12 months) with 10% off discount. In other words, there is a minimum 3 months contract on all Shop Plans.
 
Are there any extra costs such as set-up fees or transaction fees ?

There is a flat US$50.00 one time setup fee for all Shop Plans.

OwnYourShop.com does not charge transaction fees no matter what the volume. However, your bank may charge merchant transaction fees if you decide to include real-time credit card payment processing to your shop.
 
Do I need a merchant account before I can build a shop?
No, it is not necessary to get a merchant account to open your shop for business. However, if you want to be able to accept real-time credit card payments, you do need to establish a merchant account. Because it can take some time to establish an account, you can build your shop first, then open it for business and begin accepting credit cards once your merchant account is set up. Of course, you can always process credit card transactions in non-real-time if you already have a merchant account with a bank.
 
Do I have to know HTML?
You do not have to know HTML or have any Web design experience to set up a shop. All you have to do to create a shop is enter the name, price, and description for each of the items you want to sell.
 
Do I have to use a particular type of browser to build my shop?
To take advantage of all that OwnYourShop.com has to offer, you must use a 4.0 or higher version web browser to build and manage your web shop. You may use either Netscape or Internet Explorer. To download the latest versions of these browsers, visit the Netscape or Microsoft Web sites.
 
Can we change a shop once we've created it?
You can update your site as often as you want, from wherever you happen to be. Some of our users update their sites several times a day.
 
How do I put my own graphics into my shop?

Inserting your own customized graphics into your shop is easy and you can upload all the graphics via image manager.

Before you begin the shop-building process, you should put all of your graphics into Internet standard GIF or JPEG digital formats.

 
Does our shop have to look the same as all the others?

One of the best features OwnYourShop.com offers is the high degree of flexibility you have when customizing your site. You have complete control over your site’s look and feel. OwnYourShop.com also offers a variety of great looking templates and color schemes, each of which have their own distinctive look and structure.

As you gradually become an advance shop owner, you can use your existing Web site design layout for your on-line shop. There is really no restriction at all and it's up to your creativity.

 
Who processes an order placed in my web shop?
When you sign up to create a shop, you are establishing a business presence for yourself on the Web. OwnYourShop.com does not supply products for you to sell. It is up to you to decide what products to sell, and how you will obtain those products (i.e. purchase them from a wholesaler, purchase them from another retailer, or create them yourself).
 
How do shoppers pay me for their orders?
When you build your shop, you can choose the types of payments you want to accept. You can choose from a variety of payment options, including credit cards, checks, or COD orders.
 
How are credit card orders processed?
Processing a credit card order online involves a number of different components. OwnYourShop.com makes this potentially complicated process easy by offering support throughout the setup process.
 
Is your service secure?
OwnYourShop.com uses industry-standard SSL encryption to secure credit card information both on the way from the shopper from our server, and from our server on to the merchant.
 
We already have a web site. Can we put just the commerce part on your server?
Yes, many of our users do this, and it works fine.
 
Is my data kept secure?
All of your shop data is kept confidential and secure on OwnYourShop.com' servers.
 
Can I sell my products internationally?
Yes. OwnYourShop.com provides support for various currency options and tax models.
 
Is there any limit to the amount of traffic my shop can receive?
You can receive an unlimited number of visitors without incurring any extra charges.
 
How will I know when someone places an order in my shop?
There are two ways to get your orders:
  • Most users view orders on the Web: just go to the Shop Manager and click on the Order link. You'll be able to view orders over a secure connection.
  • When you build your shop, you can choose to have e-mail notifications sent to you every time an order is placed in your shop. This way you can be sure that you are aware of all orders as soon as they come in.
